Iconic vegetarian restaurant Lentil as Anything is looking for a dynamic Sous chef who will be the second cook for our Abbotsford kitchen in Victoria. This is a great opportunity to join a team of socially responsible change makers who share a passion for providing great vegetarian and vegan food in a busy, high energy, colourful and fun environment. You should have at least two years experience in the industry, excellent people skills, written English and be passionate about representing Lentil as Anything. You will need to be comfortable and able to work unsupervised and plan all the details for creating a menu and willing to work with kitchen team. Personal drive, passion for your work, a deep love of cooking, a positive and unstoppable attitude, strong stamina and proven commitment are all qualities we are looking for in our sous chef. Responsibilities : Creating a dish with any available ingredients. Cook exceptional vegetarian and vegan menus and finger food while working within a tight budget. Problem solving and creative thinking executed in unusual situations and locations. Able to work in an already busy and tight kitchen with minimal impact. Supervising new volunteers and new kitchen members while running a shift. Maintain the quality , presentation and quality during the a la carte survice. Skills required: Ability to plan menus and cook for 300 - 500 people Excellent people skills and written English. An ability to plan, manage and work independently and creatively as well as communally. Ability to solve the food related problems if and when they arise.
